What is Physical Pain vs Emotional Pain

What is Physical Pain vs Emotional Pain

Physical pain is pain we feel in the body from something tangible, sending a signal to the brain about it's location and category of signal. An example is stubbing your toe - there is a strong intense pressure located at the toe the brain perceives.

And along with this action, you may feel an emotional reaction. This may be frustration, anger, anxiety, stupid, scared, etc.

The physical pain/signal and the tissues surrounding it can heal. This may take 2-12 weeks depending on the tissue(s) and normal healing time for those tissues which require regeneration.

Emotional pain can leave numerous reminders, associations, and triggers that reactivate the pain when similar scenarios are encountered/experienced. In this scenario, the image of stubbing a toe, or a corner where the stubbing occurred, touching the toe (pressure), the same emotion which is else where experienced, may all reactivate the pain because of the association and how one understands the pain.
